Im organising another Spring event this year , based again out of Mercury Yacht Harbour , River Hamble near Southampton .
My initial proposal is ...
Friday 2nd May gather rig and launch / shakedown sail ( HW 1500 ) ...late launching may need to be at Hamble Point
Sat 3rd ...sail in Solent Isle of Wight , Medina river to Newport and return to Folly Inn
Sunday 4th return to Hamble via lunch stop Beaulieu river or Newtown Creek
Monday 5th Chichester ( or pull out on Hamble ) HW1816
Tue 6th Bembridge
Wed 7th Portsmouth ( early start )
Thur 8th return Hamble
Depending on members availability and experience this itinery could be significantly changed but current plan allows for those with short availability and also for a meal with those without boats ) . My earliest start would be 30th April and latest finish 8th May .

Good work Roly and I am in but restricted on getting kids back for school at some point .... I may keep them off for an extra day....
I aM conscious this is your gig so happy to follow your itinerary.. however some additional thoughts..
1) Saturday > Newport itself is a decent relatively cheap and friendly place to overnight (excepting local drunks) plus walk ashore instead of mid river at Folly. Not looked at tide restrictions on getting out tho. Also give it is early season has chandlery for a bit of fettling...
Could do swim stop Saturday lunch at anchor depending on weather.
2) Sunday > Instead of returning for second night in Hamble could do somewhere like Wootton Creek or Ryde..? Both decent value.
3) Monday > Bembridge/Gosport. If weather decent I might keep kids off school for extra day to do Naval stuff in Portsmouth.
But like I say, happy to go with whatever works and take into account weather at the time..

I can be there Friday 2nd to launch and plan to stay till the following Thurs/Friday. Happy to go with the flow with regards to destinations.

Good feedback so far and I take on board your idea Matt , if we dont need to return to Hamble . Ive also had an idea that on Wednesday we might even use an early start to follow the tide around the back of the Isle of Wight , ending up at Yarmouth , then to Hamble on Thursday pm via Newtown Creek or Beaulieu river.
It would be really good if any others interested to take part , in any capacity , you register that interest now , so we can make some plans.

Well , we're now into April , with our Solent event just weeks away . I now need to book up our launch and recovery and berths for those that need so I'd appreciate if anyone else thinking to join can let me know this week....Just message on this feed or contact me direct....if you don't know my contact details they are on the membership list.
For those that don't know the Solent we have probably the best sailing in England with many destinations within a few hours sail in relatively sheltered waters

Hi there , I was just about to set up a whatsapp group for those who have signalled their intention to join in the Spring Solent event but unfortunately , out sailing today , MY PHONE HAS DROPPED IN THE DRINK ! ....AAAAAAH !!!! nightmare ! Anyway I shall try to get resurected ion the next week or so...maybe by Easter Sunday .....sorry God , please excuse the bad joke . Meantime you can contact me via Ros on same number as mine but 15 at the end not 25 . ....or I can pick up emails on my lap top or tablet .

I dont think there is any need to return to Hamble so the plan would be to something like Newport/ Folly Inn, Portsmouth, Bembridge , Yarmouth , Newtown Creek , Hamble ( via Bucklers Hard ? )
