Great boat on an outstanding trailer, with a nearly new Tohatsu 20hp engine (purchased June 22). The reliability of the trailer - it has a pivoting facility so trailer wheels and axle are not submerged - and of the electric start engine with controls in the cockpit, mean you can trail and sail with absolute confidence and very economically.
The boat comes with a tiller pilot, a Lowrance fish finder with depth and speed data, a habitent cockpit cover, a fixed vhf, 4 fenders and warps, a main sail with jib and genoa.
You will see from the pics that I have had a lot of fun in her but after 12 years of trailering I am buying a bigger, fixed keel boat. I used to have a 26 foot trailer sailor; the move to a 19 foot boat made everything easier, more manageable. Currently, I tow Margarita with a short wheel base transit. She weighs in the region of 750kgs.
MacGregor 19s are rare in this country. They were designed to be motorsailors. Two years ago, I part exchanged the old Honda 35 engine for a new Tohatsu 20. Top speed now is 7knts and she is totally reliable. I have been in rough conditions with Margarita and both engine and boat have managed well.
The original 19s came with a two piece mast, Margarita benefits from having a one piece Z-spars mast with lines running through the mast.
The boat is on my drive and can be viewed anytime. I am able to help with delivering the boat at an agreed cost and can assist with explaining or demonstrating mast raising.
I have launched and rigged this boat single handedly. It has a mast raising system. It's quite straightforward but always easier with two.
