Looking forward to the AGM,

Looking forward to the AGM, we will be there. Thank you so much for the work to arrange it.

This year we hope to be around for lots more. New engine (very exciting, whole story to be regaled at some point!) needs fitting in the next couple of months.

So, on the understanding that the above all works out by May, a Solent May MiniMac would be great.

Big Mac at the last weekend of July is always going to be a problem for us but we will attempt to actually get there this year for whatever part of the BigMac we can get to. Our village has the Church Fete booked for that weekend since about half a century before Roger MacGregor was born!

Best wishes all, Roger and Anne Morris, Dragonfly

We've also booked for Edward

We've also booked for Edward the Second on Friday night ! ...never been to theatre in Stratford. It starts at 7.30 so we might be around to be sociable beforehand...see you there Miriam and Jonathan!

Regarding the summer Big Mac

Regarding the summer Big Mac event the dates don't have to be fixed. The date chosen has often been at the soonest possible time after start if school holidays but in practice I recognise that it has maybe been too much an ask for people to get off in a boat so promptly. We need to ask ourselves whether it needs to be in school holidays and if so is it better a bit later?

Any more suggestions for location?

Also , any suggestions for

Also , any suggestions for other events or trips abroad? There was a suggestion to do a European venture this year....where and when? ...my June is starting to get booked up !

This is also a chance for blue sky ( ?blue water ) thinking ....perhaps for the future ...what trip would you love to do? I've still got Ireland on my list and also to extend Morbihan trip to cruise along that coast to Bordeaux and maybe do the canal du midi. Also other French canals could be lovely . Also how about Sotland again , possibly starting from Oban ? ...and maybe take In Loch Lomond ?

Then there's Falmouth with a possibility of Pensance/ Scilles for the adventurous.

Roly, liking your French

Roly, liking your French canal idea, would we sail or trailer to France?

Look forward to the AGM, it

Look forward to the AGM, it is a short drive for me having moved near to chipping Camden a few months ago.

Since I have Chrisily moored at Mercury , will be interested in a mini Mac in the Solent.

OK , TIME FOR ACTION !....

OK , TIME FOR ACTION !.....believe it or not our AGM/planning/social meet in Stratford is just 6 weeks away !

A few people have indicated that they are planning to come but were really hoping for a lot more . Weve booked a private dining area for 25 to 30 !

It would be really encouraging if everyone who hopes to come could just quickly signal it NOW on this thread ( unless already done ) . Also please get on and book somewhere to stay if you wish to extend your social time together. It is a great time to make closer friendships within the `club` and to discuss future plans for boating ( alone or together).

I REALLY HOPE WE CAN COME ARMED WITH A PROVISIONAL PLAN and maybe some new ideas for the Association . Please bear in mind that anything fundamental will need to be discussed as a FORMAL PROPOSAL and due notice given to all members .....SO GET IT IN NOW IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE SOMETHING.....its YOUR `club`.

I have thrown out a few ideas but would like more feedback if possible . Also some of my year has now got filled by other things so might need to change.

Please dont feel put off by an official sounding AGM heading ...we keep formality to a minimum but some structure is needed for a well run organisation . The main purpose of meeting is to discuss and finalise our boating plans for the next year or two and to discuss any other interesting things. Members are VERY welcome to bring short contibutions or questions . Its a really good way for those new to the Association , or to boating as a whole , to get better acquainted.

The provisional plan is to meet up infomally before lunch and then during ofr soon after lunch we can deal with any formalities , followed soon after by further discussion about boating plans. Then there can be time for wider hopes, plans and questions/ contributions . I would really hope there is time afterwards to stretch our legs along the riverbank before gathering later in a restaurant for evening meal and further chat...about ANYTHING ! Sunday is unplanned depending on peoples committments and weather .

Over to YOU....Roly ( The Secretary bloke )

AGM forum is now fully

AGM forum is now fully visible.

Just in case anyone was having problems reading the posts about the AGM (because the forum had restricted access), it is now visible without needing to login.

I'm pretty sure that you will

I'm pretty sure that you will need a international certificate of competence to navigate the French canals. Channel Islands & the surrounding French coast could be an interesting trip.
