Hi
I have been looking for a Mac 26 to trailer around. I have been looking up the rules and regulations about towing to get the right vehicle and trailer combo. The weight is not an issue but the length is causing me problems. The gov website states the maximum trailer length is only 7m or just under 23ft. How do I get round this.
Thanks for and advice.
There's an exclusion for things that can't be split. i.e. boats and gliders etc.
Thanks I couldn't find that
The rules are a bit subtle, not to say a bit bonkers. The 7m limit refers to the trailer itself, not the load. Boats are allowed to overhang the trailer at the sides and rear. If the trailer were the length of the boat, which you could argue would be more stable, it would be illegal!
