26M Daggerboard

For anyone that may be interested, I have just had a new daggerboard made for my 26M by a fibreglass fabricator in the Glasgow area using Mike Clarke's mould. The daggerboard seems well constructed and perfectly serviceable, see pictures below. The finish I expect is perhaps not as smooth as the factory produced item from BW Yachts but a fraction of the price at £300 plus VAT and shipping.

If anyone would like to have one made please let me know and I will deliver the mould back to the fabricator and forward his contact details to you in order that you can deal directly with them. If not, I will return the mould to John Pompei for storage along with the fabricator's details for future use. My daggerboard is now back in its trunk and I am preparing to launch this weekend.

I can be contacted on 07917 794518 or e: dcairney@edcscotland.co.uk

kind regards to all

Duncan

For anyone who is interested,

For anyone who is interested, the 26M daggerboard mould is now back at the fabricators and one member (Jonathan Fox) has placed an order for a new board.. The fabricator has asked that anyone else wanting a board contact him this week as he has a busy spell approaching.

This is all good news about the fabricator. My dagger board was not too bad on checking this winter but I would advise anyone who hasn't yet checked theirs or already rigged mast to lift the board and inspect it. Mine has a bit of damage to telling edge every year even when I haven't knowingly hit anything. The jagged telling edge can then stop board from raising properly.

I may yet order one at this price.

We shall need to establish pearly the rights and ownership regarding the mould if the fabricator were to hang on to it . Also what if non members wanted one?

I think it is best that the mould is kept with a club member as it is less likely to get damaged. I have been storing it at our company premises in Erskine and will bring it back here once the fabricator is finished with it. It can then either stay here for now or I will return to John Pompei who so kindly had the packing case made and shipped it here.

Ah  Mark. If you're talking

Ah Mark. If you're talking about a pin then you must have an X with pivoting centre board. This discussion has been about the M dagger board. I'm sure there have been postings about this in the past but may be a member with x experience can advise.

Hi Mark . If you look at the

Hi Mark . If you look at the technical section of the website about page 5 you will find s thread about someone who had to replace centre board and there is some comment fro. Rick Jones about removing and red icing the pin. I don't have an X so don't fully understand it but hope it helps. Otherwise maybe contact Rick directly.

Hope you get it fitted soon to enjoy this season.
