VAT proof

I have rediscovered a lot of the paperwork from when I bought "Logan's Run" to include the original boat show materials (attached). The flyer states that all boats were sold with VAT included.

I currently have no proof that VAT has been paid on my boat, but I am fairly certain that it has. I would love to get some kind of documentation of VAT. I do have the addresses of the only 2 owners, but have not yet contacted them.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

David

Hi David,

Hi David,

The boats sold in the UK were sold with VAT I got the original invoice when I bought ASHANTI and it clearly shows VAT being charged.

I think your best chance of getting the original is going back to the previous owners who may well have it.

Is there a particular reason for wanting it ? As I understand it you only need it if you take the boat abroad.

I do have the contact details of Richard Hallowes who ran MacGregor UK but as that Company ceased trading long ago I very much doubt if he would be able to get a copy now.

Hope this helps,

See you next weekend

John

Hi David

Hi David

We are at the AGM so please search me out. I have been through the same dilemma on 2 occasions and ended up buying Star without a real VAT invoice but having some Docs that are acceptable to The VAT Lady. I can go through it with you if you’d like as I can’t publish the Lady’s email.

Keith

Hi David,

Hi David,

I made a similar enquiry with the same show flyer but also with the Statement of Origin (for different Mac to what we have now).

This is the reply from HMRC:

“The statement of origin is for Newport Beach California which would indicate that both VAT and Duty would have been due when the vessel was imported into the UK by Macgregor Yachts.
I'm sorry but neither of the documents that you have provided give any indication of value or whether the VAT has been accounted for by Macgregors.
I think you would have issues in the EU and Morocco if you were travelling with only these two documents.”

Regards

Natalie

I have spoken today to

I have spoken today to Richard Hallowes who managed the Macgregor agency when I bought my boat and he says that Laura Sharp(nee Macgregor ) would have the receipts of all boats sold including VAT. She is apparent;ly still contactable at tattoo yachts so I have emailed her today to see what we can get.

Otherwise we have to think of creative solutions.

Laura has replied to me

Laura has replied to me confirming that she has the details and confirm to you that vat was paid by the original purchaser if you can send to her the hull number of the boat and ideally also the original purchasers name.

Please contact her on address below stating you are MOA member. I used the VAT on UK imported macgregor boats title for the email.

Roly,

Roly,

I did contact Laura, who very nicely provided me with proof of VAT payment. The type of support, expertise and willingness to help is what I value most in this organization!
