We've just had to buy a new

We've just had to buy a new one from Doyle Sails as we ripped our on the first trip out this year. The old one had ripped along 2/3 of the leach and was not worth repairing.

hi tim, thanks for that. 1

hi tim, thanks for that. 1 will have to start researching prices etc. bluewater yachts usa seem to be reasonable price, but the postage adds a large cost to the price, unless of course, i have a holiday across the pond. have a nice day.

Peter,

Peter,

I fly back and forth pretty regularly as I work out of Newark NJ. I’d be happy to bring sails over if our time tables work. I’ll be bringing mine over. They’ll end up in Scotland and we can arrange shipping from here. I’m happy to offer similar help for other parts etc within the limits of my baggage allowance and travel schedule. I’d suggest you get a quote from Precision Sails. They’re in Canada and gave me a very good quote with many options. They’ll ship the sails to you for £130 but then you face import taxes etc. I’m opting for a set of their radial cut sails at £1150 for a main , 4 full battens , 3 reefs and a 95% jib.

Contact me directly if I can be of help.

Hi Peter. It might be worth

Hi Peter. It might be worth checking out a price with Nicky of NJ SAILS who has taken over the Doyle sail lift at Shamrock Quay in southampton. She has been very helpful with repairs to my main and forecasts so probably has the sizes.

Scotland is a great cruising

Scotland is a great cruising ground. Plenty of sheltered waters ,small villages and towns to visit , not to mention rain and midgies , though on the water they’re not a problem much. Plenty of good slips too. I’ll be doing a few more reconnaissance trips and will add a few more slips to the list in July. It’s time for me to go to work again. I’ll be taking delivery of Ptarmigan when I get back and hope to have the new sails on her in August. Along with a few upgrades ordered from BWYachts

You’re welcome.

You’re welcome.

For comparison purposes you can look at my choice from Precision. I’m going for the Pro Radial Main and 95% jib. They’re

£700 and £400 respectively. The Pro Radial is their middle of the line. You can go up or down by about £200 on each sail by choosing different cuts.
