Thought I would chip in with the comment I made under the "Media" Tab where there is a picture of centre board bracket. Having had problems re-locating the bracket, with the centre board in it, back through the hull I had the 1 inch screw thread replaced with a 3 inch thread by a local enginner. I had seen the mod on the US Mac Sailors web site. Mod worked a treat, I can now easily remove/reinstall the centreboard and routinely do this each winter to check fittings and antifoul.
Hi ,Interesting mod, with larger hole. I had my 'board' off a couple of years ago. If the boat is on the trailer, then it helps if the boat is central on the trailer,as it gives more drop room. I also jacked the boat up a bit to allow for even more working room. As mentioned previously i had bought a spare 'hanger' from Macgregors U.K. i believe they cost £44.00. Didn't have any real problems refitting it, so long as you have somebody on board to put the nut back on the thread as it re appears, i also used some fresh sealant. I think i will re-check the 'hanger' again this year, but don't expect the same degree of corrosion, as the boat has not spent so much time in Marinas, where stray electical currents cause corrosion of stainless steel. Regards, David Phillips. SANDPIPER .p.s. Watch out for distorted tyres as gives severe 'bone-shaking' vibrations' when towing empty trailer !
